will be permanently required, it would seem both reasonable
and fair to the Staff at the College that the post should
be placed upon the permanent establishment and that it
should carry with it a salary proportionate to the greater
importance of the duties of the appointment compared with
those of a Senior Assistant Master.

The salary of a Senior Assistant Master is $2,400 rising by triennial increments of $300 to $3,000 per annum with Exchange Compensation or under the Sterling Salaries Scheme £360 rising by triennial increments of £30 to £480 per annum. I would recommend that there should be attached to the post of Normal Master a salary of $3,000 rising to $3,600 per annum by triennial increments of $200 or in sterling £480 rising to £570 by triennial increments of £30, which scale is a logical extension of the scale already approved by Your Lordship for junior Officers, with the proviso that when a Senior Master already upon the maximum salary of his post is promoted to the appointment he shall be permitted to draw the first increment of $200 or £30 as the case may be.
